Sri Lanka in Lockdown
Sri Lanka has been in full lockdown, because of Covid since May 21 and may open up tentatively 15th June, a total of 24 days. News reports circulating report the lockdown may be extended till the end of June! Hospital space is not available any longer, so Covid patients have to self-quarantine at home.
All of this has been very challenging, as several of our churches are in rural areas and unable to gather or meet, do not have technology for online broadcasting, finances have dried up, and the list goes on. Basically, they are in isolation. In addition, some areas experience persecution.

The monsoon rains have come, and a number of houses flooded severely. The challenges have been intensified, as believers have had to move in with relatives but are apprehensive because of the ongoing pandemic situation. Even pastors have been unable to visit their people to provide some comfort because of the lockdown. As a result, churches have had little or no income and have been hit critically. A “severe tightening of belts season” scenario! Our ministry has been providing aid; however, our resources are extremely limited. The irony is that while Sri Lanka is going through much adversity, the Marxist-leaning government is busy pandering to the Chinese who have “bought” over the president and prime minister (brothers) and are literally taking over Sri Lanka.
The Chinese government is merciless, and our nation's leaders have ended up in an outrageous dept trap. The Chinese, in turn, are using very strong arm tactics to get their demands met.

The Good News
The good news is that Overcomers Church weekly audience on our online services has been growing and building momentum and even reaching over eight nations. Our online Bible school courses are going well and reaching students from 15 districts of Sri Lanka out of 25. They are enthusiastically following the training.
Mayor Rosy of Colombo and several other Parliamentarians have been reaching out to us for prayer and counsel which is amazing. One even prayed to receive Christ! God is definitely moving!
