Sri Lanka Coalition Update from Woody Blok

Woodrow ‘Woody’ Blok, Convenor for the Sri Lanka Coalition, says 2023 is a year “for the God-given opportunities and strategies to gather in the harvest and advance God’s Kingdom on earth.” Despite the fact that, “Sri Lanka continues to be unstable and under tremendous unimaginable pressure. Life is getting tougher and tougher. 35% personal income tax the latest in a long line of severe testing of our faith. This is all dealing a crushing blow, and people are making every effort to leave for work overseas and just to survive.

Our feeding and distribution initiative will continue for 6 more months. The nation continues to suffer, with is no end in the near future. A family of 4 children can afford to send only one child once a week to school. 40% young girls stay at home one week out of a month as they cannot afford sanitary pads. The stories continue to sound gloomy and hopeless. The Body of Christ continues to rise up and make a huge difference.

Sri Lanka has only 2% born again believers. Times are very challenging, but we must make room to allow His joy be our strength in the middle of battle.

Prayers are absolutely necessary! Please pray about how you can be involved to bless the people of Sri Lanka with the food distribution. The gospel is presented along as well. We can and should seize this window of opportunity! Many are hearing the gospel message for the first time. When you feed others, you are feeding Christ. “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat” (Matthew 25:34-40). $1 will provide a meal for 1 person. Woody is returning to Sri Lanka soon after being in the United States to under doctors care for heart bypass surgery. And he is returning with his new wife Deborah! “Together we will be ministering at our pastors and leaders conference, graduates advance, Sunday Church gatherings, Children’s Home events and meeting one on one with our network of leaders and pastors. The list goes on. We are looking forward to the opportunity to impacting the generations. Your prayers are appreciated. Grateful for a marriage partner to accompany me. Two is better than one.”
